ROOTS is a small game created during Global Game Jam 2023; in under 48 hours.
Taking the theme of the game jam literally, roots will grow towards your water orbs, and your task is to cut them before they absorb them. Everytime you cut a root, a flower will bloom. If you cut a flower, it will die. Can you cut roots and also avoid cutting your own flowers? Below is gameplay from after the game jam had finished; with more polish and bug fixes implemented!
The purpose of the project was to focus on exploring Godot Engine. Specifically, version 4.0; and the new features that have been integrated. I leaned heavily on Godot's runtime curve generation API and also the latest tweening functionality.
I created this game entirely solo; design, programming, art direction and audio design. Despite juggling many roles, it was a very chilled jam!
